I logged in and opened Edge to install chrome sorry Microsoft, chrome will not download files. I clicked the "download" button and nothing happened. No pop-up on the bottom of the browser and the "downloads" tabs was completely empty.
Naturally, I clicked the start menu and went to the "Get Skype" link under "Most Used" ,as I wanted to see if my friends had experienced my problem. Unfortunately, it was a download link and the same problem persisted. I'm going to restart my computer to see if that helps. Edit: Restarted computer, no luck, chrome will not download files. I've been at it for 30 minutes on the internet looking or an answer. It was probably an issue with Windows 10 itself, and not Edge.

For those who are seeing this, I had the same problem. I could not chrome will not download files any programs or view certain web pages. I had moved to Windows 10 by way of upgrade, as many have. The change in question was moving my "Temporary Chrome will not download files Files" directory to another drive and further the drive was a ram drive since I have 32GB of ram.
I had the same problem until this morning. I know Edge was supposed to be faster than IE and closer to Chrome speeds, but it definitely wasn't in my case. I will try to move my temp file for Edge later to see if that works too. I can't stand when something isn't working properly! Gonna get some rest and try in the morning. I'll tell you if it chrome will not download files anything. In reply to ChrisCinereous's post on August 1, I tried reinstalling Windows 10 and now I'm only getting an error I when ahead and did a fresh install and Edge is working perfectly chrome will not download files. I would recommend fresh installing or reverting to 8 and re-upgrading.
Jimsp1 Replied on August 1, I had this problem and based on other suggestions I messed around with clearing the history. I tried it a few times and it finally solved the problem. I'm not sure of the exact sequence but it definitely had something to do with the browsing history. A real chrome will not download files thing is that the map app wasn't working correctly and this also corrected that problem.
