If you're using the twitch client, just find the mod pack and install a new instance. You can use it to nuke the old one too. I usually have several versions of the mod pack installed side by side, when new versions come out, or if I'm fiddling with something.
When you say 'jack up the memory for Java', is that an option in the Twitch client or in Windows? How do I do that? Lol, yeah. It's actually the twitch client passing along a command line argument to the Java executable when it launches the minecraft client. I tried to follow the instructions as listed below and it will only let me 'run' the demo.
